Some 29% of the actions planned for this term of office have been implemented, with a further 56% in progress. The municipal government makes a positive assessment of the first half of the current term of office, with a task centring on four strategic areas: Pla Endreça, Pla Viure, Pla de Barris and Pla Clima.
The new website barcelona.cat/acciodegovern has been set up for people to find out about and track the work of Jaume Collboni’s government. The site offers information on the transformations in progress to build the Barcelona of 2035, a city which is safer, healthier, more liveable and more prosperous. Projects include the new Rambla, Via Laietana, Port Olímpic, Ronda de Dalt, Glòries, Av. Meridiana and Montjuïc.
Strategic plans
Halfway into this term of office the most important data from the four strategic work plans are:
- Pla Endreça.1,300 actions in urban space in progress in 2025. Nearly 120,000 works of graffiti removed in 2024, with 4,500 people working on cleaning.
- Pla Viure. Neary 1,500 keys handed over for flats with affordable rents, plus 5,000 protected homes being created. Tourist lets also to be eliminated by 2028.
- Pla de barris. Budget of 200 million euros for work in 27 neighbourhoods, benefitting a population of 438,000 people.
- Pla Clima. Climate control for 170 schools thanks to the tourist tax. 22 hectares of new urban greenery created. This summer will see 70 new shade structures added to combat the heat.
Key improvements
- Security: reduction of 8.7% in crime in the first quarter of 2025.
- Cleaning: increase of 40% in surface space cleaned in the city.
- Housing: drop of 6.4% in the price of new rental contracts in the last year thanks to the application of price limits.
- Economy: GDP tops 100,000 million euros for the first time.
- Mobility: 23 kilometres of new bike lanes.
- Social support: Barcelona is the leading city in the Spanish state for social investment per inhabitant, at 239 euros. Work has also been speeded up on the construction of 17 new primary healthcare centres.
