The pilot project offers a shared housing alternative with comprehensive support for vulnerable families, particularly single-parent families with young children who have lost their home or room. The programme starts with eight homes that can house up to twelve families of four for eighteen months.
Habittem combines temporary accommodation and communal, educational and emotional support to help families regain their autonomy and resume their life project.
The project will be in place until March 2027 with an overall budget of 627,877 euros and is part of the City Council’s new work areas to transform the emergency temporary accommodation system and promote more stable and personalised support models.
Promoted by the Municipal Institute for Social Services and the Fundació “la Caixa”, the initiative is also supported by Sant Joan de Déu Serveis Socials, the Fundació Mambré, Càritas Diocesana de Barcelona and the Fundació Formació i Treball.
